LODD: D.C. Firefighter Dies After Morning High Rise Fire

Lt. Kevin McRae collapsed and later died this morning while operating at a high rise in Washington, D.C.

A D.C. firefighter has died in the line of duty.

Two firefighters were taken to a local hospital after fighting a blaze at a downtown high-rise Wednesday morning. They were taken to Washington MedStar hospital, where one was pronounced dead.

A spokesperson for D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser confirmed Lt. Kevin McRae died after collapsing at the fire. Bowser is at the hospital, as firefighters hold hands in prayer outside.
