Boston Fire Department 4 Alarm Fire Ground Ladder Rescues and a Mayday

For anyone who was listening to last night’s 4 alarm fire in Hyde Park, there were some tense moments.  It is believed that a ruptured gas line caused and fueled the fast moving fire.  Boston Firefighters rescued 4 people off ground ladders, including 2 children.

At one point in the fire Rescue 2 Captain Paul Carey could not be accounted for.  Command issued a “mayday” and after a few tense moments, he was found.  Capt. Carey was searching the attic for reported trapped children and ran out of air. High heat, zero visibility, and confusion from taking on too much CO, Capt. Carey was not able to self rescue.  Happy to report he doing just fine.
